Annual Goal Setting
Thank you so much for joining the Kinder Weddings Community! Making weddings kinder for people and the planet is more than just having an environmental impact - it’s also about making our businesses more resilient, our work more sustainable, and our industry more connected. Making big changes starts with small goals, and that’s why as part of this group, we ask all our members to set four goals to work toward each year.
To be part of this community, you’ve taken the Kinder Weddings Community Vow, which outlines four pillars of sustainability: Environmental, Social, Economic, and Personal. We’re asking you to set a goal within each of those four categories that you can realistically achieve in the coming year. These goals are about helping us all move the dial a little bit; as we grow as a community, if we each make a small change every year, those changes will add up to have a big impact.
Use the form below to help you set your goals for the year. When you’re ready, hit “submit” and send the goals to us. When you’ve set your goals, we’ll send over the Kinder Weddings badge you can display on your social media and website.
FAQs

Keep in mind while setting your goals that they should be SMART:
Specific: include as much detail as possible.
Measurable: how will you know that you've achieved your goal? What does that look like, and how will you know when you're there?
Attainable: is this goal possible? A goal like "achieve world peace" is lovely, but isn't something you can achieve on your own.
Realistic: think about your resources (time, money, connections, energy) and what your next year looks like. Is this a realistic goal? We want this to be something you are likely to be able to achieve within a year.
Time-Based: this one's built right in - we're looking at goals with a one-year timeline.

We’ve made goal-setting a part of our community because we want to be accountable to ourselves and each other. It can be lonely as a wedding vendor - often we lack resources, support, and connection. This means it’s really easy to focus on the day-to-day work, without stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. Setting goals means being intentional about your business, thinking about how you can make an impact, and putting out into the world the things you want to achieve.

Sometimes we can’t meet a goal, for one reason or another, and that’s okay. Priorities and circumstances can change, and even the best-intentioned goal might need to be put on hold. We’re here to provide resources, support, connections, and encouragement to help you meet your goals, but we can also help you regroup and reassess when it seems like you won’t achieve what you hoped.

Of course - that’s what this community is all about! We’ll provide some feedback and resources on your goals, but we also hope that you’ll be able to connect with other vendors in our Slack channel, be open about your goals on your social media channel, and work with other vendors and community members to make your goals happen!
